An Acceptable Use Policy sets out the rules that apply to your use of CiTiFi’s services. Most of these rules exist to meet legal requirements; others exist to keep our network, our staff and our other customers safe and secure. This AUP forms part of your agreement with CiTiFi and should be read together with our Terms & Conditions.
By using CiTiFi’s services you agree to use them only in a manner consistent with this AUP. Failure to do so may be grounds for CiTiFi to suspend or discontinue your service, with or without notice, depending on the severity of the breach.
You may not use CiTiFi’s services for or in connection with any of the following:
- any criminal, illegal or unlawful act, or any activity that facilitates one;
- any use that intentionally interferes with CiTiFi’s ability to provide its services;
- any use that infringes CiTiFi’s rights or the rights of any third party, including intellectual-property rights;
- any breach of any other agreement, policy or terms and conditions you have accepted in connection with the services;
- sending unsolicited bulk or commercial communications (spam) in contravention of applicable law or the ISPA Code of Conduct;
- distributing malware, viruses, or other harmful code;
- unauthorised access to, scanning of, or interference with any network, system or account (“hacking”);
- hosting, distributing or accessing child sexual abuse material or other content prohibited by the Films and Publications Act;
- forging headers or impersonating any person or entity; and
- any activity that places an abusive or disproportionate load on the network.
CiTiFi’s packages are uncapped but subject to fair and reasonable use. To protect service quality for all customers, CiTiFi may apply reasonable network-management measures and may manage accounts that show sustained abusive or disproportionate usage. Please see our Fair Use Policy for detail.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for all activity that takes place through your connection. You must notify CiTiFi promptly of any suspected unauthorised use of your account. You must not attempt to circumvent authentication, billing or usage controls.
CiTiFi is subject to the Regulation of Interception of Communications and Provision of Communication-related Information Act, 2002 (RICA), and will comply with lawful directives issued under it. Your registration information is collected and processed for this and related purposes as described in our Privacy Policy and PAIA/POPIA Manual.
Please report any use of CiTiFi’s services that contravenes this AUP to support@citifi.co.za. CiTiFi investigates all reports of abuse and cooperates with the relevant authorities where required.
Depending on the nature and severity of a breach, CiTiFi may: issue a warning; throttle, suspend or terminate the service; remove offending content; and/or report the matter to the relevant authorities. CiTiFi reserves all its rights in law.
If it is necessary to amend this Acceptable Use Policy, CiTiFi will post a prominent notice on its website or send you an email to keep you informed about changes and how they may affect you.
